I have been a member of this gym for almost two years, and so I can write an honest review about this place. The reason for two stars is just the space: it's a spacious gym and the only one in the area with that size and decent equipment. However plenty of things wrong which can be rectified if the management pays attention to them. 1. There is no maintenance done EVER in the gym! Their roof has been leaking for the past 2 years (at least) but all they do is place a bucket under the leak to stop the water from spilling on the gym floor. 2. Equipment once broken will remain broken for weeks, sometimes even months! There used to be a rowing machine for cardio, however it suddenly disappeared one day and I never saw it again. I was told by one of the trainers that it has gone for repair, yet after a year it didn't get repaired and somehow it seems everyone forgot about it. 3. The most important part of the gym is its trainers, and that's where Fortune is probably the worst. There were a few guys (Hitesh, Sunny, Charan) who were really helpful and minded their own business. However there are a few unfit "uncles" who call themselves trainers, but really don't know anything other than moving the weight from A to B. They stand in groups n chit chat most of the times, and will not correct any member if his/her form or posture is bad. They tell normal members rudely to remove the weights from machines they have used, but people who take PT from them are allowed to leave the weights wherever they want. One of the uncles even shouted at me and told me to get lost from the gym and take a refund....though I doubt if he will be able to afford giving a one year membership fee as refund himself. He said he will throw me out....I mean, seriously uncle??! 4. The music sucks!! They insist on playing loud music, which is fine since it's a gym. However they will play the most shitty songs (Hindi movies, ladies sangeet types) and if you request them to lower the volume so u can listen to your own headphones, they make a face. 5. Some non serious members especially aunties hog the equipment they are using, and keep sitting on the machines even when they are resting and not using it. A trainer is supposed to tell them to share the machines with other members, but they are just not bothered. 6. There are some great members who are really fit and look inspiring. However these are few while there are many others who look like shit but insist on offering free advice or talk to you between your sets!! This guy comes n tells me to do half-reps on shoulder press, and I almost told him that cardio machines are on the other side. Another time I saw a guy who didn't let another member squat because he was using the squat rack for T-bar rows (moron!). For the hefty fees you pay here, I would suggest that you join only if you can't travel to Andheri West, where you can get many good gyms at the same price. Trust me it would be worth it, plus they will have ample parking as well. Otherwise I would not recommend Fortune to anyone.
